Fear Not

After these things, the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision, saying, "Fear not, Abram, I am your Shield, your abundant compensation, and your reward shall be exceedingly great." [Genesis 15: 1 AMP]

Before this word came to Abram, God had promised him blessings and even renewed His covenant with him. Yet what Abram desired (an heir, which could be inferred from the blessing) had not come to pass. It is possible that Abram may have wondered "when" or "how". But the word of the Lord came to him as an assurance that His promises will come to pass.

In the same vein, you may be wondering "when" or "how" with regards God's great and precious promises to you. HE says to you today, "Fear not, I am your Shield". A shield is a protective device meant to stop, deflect or interrupt the progress of an attack. Imagine your Almighty, Loving Father being your Shield. This is an assurance of safety and security. HE is always present with you, actually caring for you. You have nothing to fear. Rather focus on your reward, the blessing, which shall be exceedingly great.

Suggestions for Prayer: Ask God to help you reveal any area of fear you may have, that you may deal with it. Declare that you do not have the spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

Some Things That Will Never Cease

"As long as the earth endures.
seedtime and harvest,
cold and heat,
summer and winter,
day and night
will never cease."
[Genesis 8:12, NIV].

Is it not comforting to know that there will surely be a time to reap, and surely there will be day no matter how long the night may seem? Your Heavenly Father sees you, knows all you do and knows all you are going through. It could only get better, by the grace of God. Your seeds sown in faith, with love, with expectation and as a sacrifice will surely yield a great harvest. And if you are going through an unfavourable season, be comforted in the knowledge that seasons come and go, weeping may endure for the night but joy comes in the morning - the morning will surely come.

Welcome to the New Year. It is well with you and yours.

Suggestions for Prayer: Ask God to help you live life trusting Him. Pray that He shows you where and how to sow seeds this year. Pray that you experience an added sense of His Presence daily in this 2010.
