The Confidence In Approaching God

And this is the confidence which we have in Him: [we are sure] that if we ask anything according to His will, He listens to and hears us. And if we know that He listens to us in whatever we ask, we also know that we have the requests made of Him.

As a child of God, you have been emboldened by the Lord Christ to come to God in all circumstances, with all your supplications and requests. Through Him your petitions are admitted and accepted of God. This is indeed a privilege, and you can be sure that if you ask anything according to the will of God, your prayer will be heard.

The subject of your prayer needs to be aligned with the the will of God. A child asking his father for a car may not have it because his father knows the time is not right. A child requesting for a certain pair of shoes to enable him be like his peers may not have what he requested for because his motives were not right. When you make your request to your loving Father, where they are according to His will, when your motives are right, or when the season is due, you will see the physical manifestation of what you have asked of Him.

You will also need to seek what the Lord wants and pray it into being. Are you moved by the great increase of immorality? Do you feel something when you see the marriage institution being taken for granted? Are you touched by the loneliness of individuals or the lostness of souls? What are the things that God has put on your heart? As you think on the things He has put in your heart, you will begin to understand His will. Then when you ask for His wisdom, His grace and His Holy Spirit to accomplish those things that are His will, you will find out that every other thing you should have been bothered about will begin to fall into place. Rest assured that your loving Father hears your prayers when it is according to His will.

Prayer: My Loving Father, I thank You for the grace of Your listening ear and the privilege of being able to come boldly before You and have audience in prayer. Align my heart with Yours. May my requests always be according to Your will. May I always experience the peace and assurance that comes with knowing I have the requests I have made of You, because I have asked according to Your will. In Jesus Name, Amen.
